Catch up time! :)

Hello guys!

I have been so busy recently that I didn't even have time to update my blog, my sincerest apologies!
I finished all embroideries last week and started sewing together the different parts. You can see the cover of the pockets with the embroidery and the small pillows I made will be placed in the pocket underneath.

Ich hatte so viel zu tun in letzter Zeit, dass ich nicht einmal Zeit hatte meinen Blog upzudaten!
Letzte Woche hab ich alle Stickereien fertig gestellt und diese Woche geht es hauptsächlich darum alles zusammen zu nähen. Ihr könnt die Stickereien auf den Abdeckungen der kleinen Täschchen sehen, in die die kleinen Polster dann rein kommen.
So und hier nun ein paar Bilder der Entstehungsprozesses :)

Hallo!

Tut mir leid dass ihr so lange warten musstet! Ich hatte schrecklich viel zu tun die letzten Tage!
Unten seht ihr nun endlich die ersten 6 Stickereien, und morgen fange ich an zusammen zu nähen was möglich ist. Am Mittwoch hab ich dann noch einen Termin um die anderen Stichereien fertig zu machen :)

Landscapes with fabric!

Hello people!! :)

I finally started to sew the landscapes I was talking about!
Let me fill you in again about this current project on mine ;) I basically create an artist book about the journey of a cloud. So all the landscapes you see are from a birds (clouds) eye perspective. So in case you wonder why they're all looking slightly abstract ... it's the perspective that does it.

I've picked 12 countries which the cloud is travelling over which are:

The Netherlands, Alaska, USA, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Kenya, Senegal, Madagascar, Greenland, Canada and Australia

I'm creating a cloud shaped pillow (you can see the pattern drawing below too!) and in this pillow are 12 small pockets. In each pocket will be a little 10x10cm pillow with the image of the landscape.
I hope that makes sense... you'll see the next days how this will turn out :D

Hallo meine lieben!

Endlich hab ich mit den Landschaften für mein Projekt angefangen von denen ich geredet hab.

Also ich werd euch noch mal kurz erzählen an was ich da genau Arbeite :) Ich kreiere ein Künstlerbuch über die Reise einer Wolke. Ein Künstlerbuch muss nicht unbedingt eine traditionelle Buchform haben, aber die Eigenschaften eines Buches.

Ich habe die folgenden 12 Länder gewählt über die die Wolke reist:

Holland, Süd Africa, Alaska, Kanada, USA, Indonesien, Kenia, Senegal, China, Grönland, Madagaskar und Australien

Ich erstelle also einen Polster in Wolkenform (den groben Schnitt könnt ihr unten sehen). In diesem Polster sind 12 kleine 'Taschen' in denen sich je ein kleiner Polster a 10x10 cm befindet. Auf diesem kleinen Polster sind dann die Landschaften zu sehen.

Ich hoffe, euch gefallt was ihr soweit sehen könnt.

I received my personal Art House sketchbook!!

Good morning!

I'm so excited as I received the sketchbook for the 'Limited Edition Sketchbook Project' from Art House today!! It has my name with a bar code at the back, really cool!
Now I just have to decide on one of the themes and then I can get started. I have to finish it by the end of April and send it back to them. It will then be exhibited with all the other sketchbooks in the Brooklyn Art Library, and at least one page will also be published in a series of art books that come out of this project!

I'll keep you up to date on how I get along so come back soon! :)

Hallöchen!!

Voller Freude hab ich festgestellt, dass ich endlich mein kleines persönliches Sketchbuch für das 'Limited Edition Sketchbook Project' von Art House erhalten habe! Es hat einen Strichcode und meinen Namen auf der Hinterseite, seeehr cool!
Jetzt muss ich nur noch ein Thema wählen und los geht's. Es muss bin Ende April gefüllt und wieder zurück geschickt werden. Danach wird es mit all den anderen teilnehmenden Sketchbüchern in der Brooklyn Kunst Bibliothek ausgestellt, und mindestens eine Seite meines Büchleins wird in einer Buchserie veröffentlicht die aus diesem Projekt entsteht!

Ich halt euch auf dem laufenden also schaut bald wieder vorbei! :)

There are some people you really should know about!!!

Hellooo!

It's time indeed for you to get to know four greatly talented designers and illustrators!! If you don't know them already then it's well past time that you do!!
They have inspired my own work a lot. I follow them for quite some time already and each time I am amazed again by their creative output.

Let's start with Anna Jane Searle. She is a very talented illustrator and textile designer who does beautiful embroideries, illustrations, pattern designs and much more. Her work is intricate and her use of colour and shapes are very inspiring!! I admire her as she's an artist of many talents and you can see more of her work HERE!

Then there is an illustrator called Paul Shinn. His work it great, humorous and rich of colour! Paul has a super blog, he also draws comics and his character designs are amazing! His work puts a big smile on your face and certainly encouraged me to be more bold with using colour! Have a look at more of Paul's work HERE!

You should also know about Lauren Britchford. She's an illustrator for children's books and greeting cards among other things. Her drawings are lovely, full of fantasy and imagination. Lauren is also working on developing websites, 3D sculptures and animations so keep your eyes peeled! Look at her work HERE!

And last but not least there is Sandra Dieckmann. She's an amazing illustrator and designer and her work evolves around animals and nature. Sandra's drawings are intricate, inspiring, full of details, and colour. I love her work because it's full of inspiration and she's a real draftsman! See more of her work HERE!

So ich denk es is an der Zeit, dass ihr ein paar wunderbare Designer und Illustratoren kennenlernt!

Fangen wir an mit Anna Jane Searle, sie ist eine sehr talentierte Illustratorin und textil Designerin. Anna fertigt nicht nur wunderschöne Stickereien an, sondern auch Illustrationen, Musterdesigns und vieles mehr! Ihre Designs sind detailliert und die Kombination von Farbe und Form in ihren Zeichnungen ist sehr inspirierend. Ich bewundere Anna's Designs und ihre Vielfältigkeit!  Ihren blog findet ihr HIER!

Dann ist da Paul Shinn, ein talentierter Illustrator dessen Zeichnungen humorvoll und farbenfroh sind. Pauls Blog ist sehr inspirierend und neben Comics zeichnet er fantastische Charaktere. Seine Designs und Zeichnungen zaubern immer ein Lächeln auf mein Gesicht und haben mich ermutigt mehr Farbe in meinen Zeichnungen einzusetzen! Pauls Seite findet ihr HIER!


Da ist auch noch Lauren Britchford. Sie spezialisiert sich auf Kinderbücher und Grusskarten Designs, arbeitet im Moment aber auch an 3D Skulpturen und Animationen. Und zum Abschluss möchte ich euch noch Sandra Dieckmann vorstellen! Eine sehr talentierte Illustratorin und Designerin deren Bilder hauptsächlich von Tieren und der Natur inspiriert sind! Ihre Zeichnungen sind facettenreich, voller Fantasie, Farbe und ihre Kreativität kennt keine Grenzen! Ihre Bilder faszinieren und inspirieren mich jedes mal wieder! Mehr von Sandra findet ihr HIER!

Birthday card for my friend!

I thought I show you the birthday card I did for my friends 28th b-day! :)
It has a dark grey cover where I cut out the number 28 and some decoration, then is a red layer and then you open the card to the actual image!

Hallo!

Ich dachte mir ich zeig euch die Geburtstagskarte die ich für den 28. Geb. meiner Freundin gemacht hab! :) Die Karte hat einen dunkel grauen Einband, aus dem ich die Zahl 28 und etwas Dekoration herausgeschnitten hab. Dahinter ist ein roter Abschnitt und dann öffnet man die Karte und findet das Geburtstagsbild!

Ich hoffe sie gefällt euch, und ich hoffe auf jeden Fall dass sie Soraya gefällt!!!

Art House Limited Edition Sketchbook Project

Good afternoon!

I'm happy to announce that I'll be part of the Art House Limited Edition Sketchbook Project!!
I'm sooo excited!! :) Shortly I'll receive a little sketchbook via post which I will then fill up with my drawings to a chosen theme. I haven't chosen the theme yet but there is a little time left until I receive the sketchbook!
The deadline is the end of April and the themes are:

Time and the way we travel
Distance and time
How to spell and other things to learn
The science of story
Thread and surface
The last word ever spoken
Why did the owl make everyone laugh?
Create and capture
The secret and how to tell it
Pictures and descriptions


They all sound great, I have to think about it.... :)

Hallo meine lieben Leser!

Es gibt gute Neuigkeiten!!! Ich bin teil eines limitierten Sketchbuch Projektes, das von Art House in Brooklyn, New York arrangiert wird!! :D In ein paar Tagen sollte ich ein kleines Sketchbuch erhalten, speziell für dieses Projekt, und dann hab ich bis Ende April Zeit um es zu füllen. Ich hab noch kein Thema gewählt aber da is ja noch ein bissal Zeit!
Die Themenauswahl sieht folgendermassen aus:

Zeit und wie wir Reisen
Distanz und Zeit
Wie man Buchstabiert und andere Dinge die man lernt
Die Wissenschaft der Geschichtenerzählerei
Faden und Oberfläche
Das letzte jemals gesprochene Wort
Warum die Eule jeden zum lachen brachte?
Erzeugen und Festhalten (Dokumentieren)
Das Geheimnis und wie man es erzählt
Bilder und Beschreibungen

Alle hören sich gut an, ich muss mir dass noch überlegen... :D
Ich halt euch auf jeden Fall auf dem laufenden, also schaut bald wieder vorbei!!

My crafty project!

Hello! :)

I think I haven't told you yet but one of our uni projects is to create an artist book. This doesn't mean though that it has to be a normal book! It can have a different format but has the attributes of a book e.g. a title, different pages (or layers or something similar), an index (maybe),... you get the idea I think.

So my final idea is a story about a little cloud who is travelling around the world. For that I'll sew a pillow (yes quite right a pillow!) and this pillow is divided into 9 sections and in every section will be a mini pillow on which you'll find an illustration. I don't know if that makes sense but below you find a sketch which hopefully makes it clearer! :D

Also ich weiss nicht ob ich's euch schon erzählt hab, aber eines unserer Projekte ist es ein Künstlerbuch zu erstellen. Das heisst nicht unbedingt, dass es ein richtiges Buch sein muss. Es muss einfach nur die Attribute eines Buchs haben wie z.B. einen Titel, eine form von Seiten, einen Index evtl.,... und so.

Ich hab mir also gedacht ich erzeuge einen Polster (ja ganz genau :) !) und erzähl die Geschichte einer kleinen Wolke die um die Welt reist und viele tolle dinge sieht. Der Polster wird in 9 Teile unterteilt, und in jedem dieser Teile wird sich ein kleiner Polster befinden auf dem die Illustration ist. So ich weiss nicht ob des jetzt so verständlich war aber ich hab mal eine Bild angehängt wo ihr den grossen Hauptpolster seht und vielleicht wird's dann klarer :D

Ich hoffe ihr schaut bald wieder rein um zu sehn wie's mit dem Koffer voran geht! :)
